AFCS 1000 Introduction to Africana Studies (3)

Provides a broad overview of the field of Africana studies -- its unique content, core concepts and perspectives, and some major trends that have shaped and continue to shape the field.听This is a survey course designed to introduce students to the field of Africana studies. Its main focus will center on the substantive content of the field, a critical study of Africa and peoples of African origin in Africa and abroad. This focus will include examining the major theoretical, methodological and epistemological questions defining the continued evolution of Africana studies. Both classic and modern studies and texts in the field of Africana studies will be covered in order to give students a grounding in the intellectual history of the field. GCP Coding: (ROC) (INTC)
