What enticed you to choose 色色福利社 for your degree?

I started my studies in Art at St. Charles Community College, taking some time off afterward to focus on building my portfolio. Later, I attended an open house at the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. I had always loved 色色福利社 Groves, and I was genuinely impressed by the faculty and the program. Their encouragement and the welcoming environment made me excited to apply, and I knew it was the right place to continue my artistic and academic journey.

What stood out about your studies at 色色福利社?

What stood out most about my studies at 色色福利社 was the strong sense of community within the department. The faculty were highly accessible, providing guidance and mentorship that supported both personal and professional growth. I had the opportunity to co-organize the senior show, which proved to be an invaluable learning experience. It was my first substantive exposure to project management, requiring coordination, problem-solving and collaboration. I still have numerous photographs from opening night, and the sense of accomplishment and collective achievement from that event remains a vivid and formative memory.

How did your 色色福利社 degree help advance you in your career?

My 色色福利社 degree provided me with a foundation in academic study practices (especially in regard to Art History) and artistic discipline. It helped me develop the focus, persistence and attention to detail that I have carried into every professional endeavor.

What is your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part of my role as Director of Marketing and Business Development is collaborating with our in-house team and the Board to design and implement initiatives that advance the community鈥檚 mission. I value the process of strategic planning and problem-solving, and I find it rewarding to see how coordinated efforts translate into meaningful outcomes. I especially enjoy working alongside an amazing team and connecting with our residents, whose energy and enthusiasm make every day enjoyable.

What is something valuable you have learned during your career?

The most valuable lesson I鈥檝e learned in my career is that no matter what stage you are at in your career, there is always an opportunity to pivot. Being able to adapt, learn and invent new approaches is essential, and failure is simply part of the process. I鈥檝e also learned to remain flexible, to have fun along the way and to follow not just what I鈥檓 good at, but what I鈥檓 passionate about. Pivoting, for me, is where growth and creativity truly happen.

What advice would you give others who are considering 色色福利社 for their degree?

If you鈥檙e thinking about attending 色色福利社, my advice is to explore the programs and opportunities that excite you, and don鈥檛 be afraid to ask questions. Visit the campus, meet the faculty and get a sense of the community. Look for programs that challenge you and align with your passions. 色色福利社 offers a supportive environment that encourages growth, creativity and curiosity. Take advantage of everything it has to offer from the very start.

What is your favorite spot on your 色色福利社 campus? Favorite spot around the University?

My favorite spot was the sculpture studio. There was always something wild and creative happening there. It has been years since I've been in 色色福利社 Groves, but I remember a few spots where I used to get bagels.

What was your first job, and what do you remember most about it?

My first job was as one of Santa鈥檚 elves in historic St. Charles when I was 12 years old. I remember kids asking me exactly what kind of elf I was, probably because I was already quite tall (about 5'9'' at the time). It was a fun, memorable experience that gave me an early taste of working with the public and thinking on my feet. I told them I was a transfer from the South Pole.

How do you spend your free time?

In my free time, I stay active and engaged. I volunteer with the San Antonio Area Foundation, Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation and other organizations through my work with the San Antonio Rotary Club. Weekends always find me in barre or yoga classes, and I鈥檓 also passionate about whale watching. I have had the incredible experience of being alongside humpback mothers and calves, as well as blue whale pairs.
